What we are looking for:

• Academic degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in applied data science, including statistics, machine learning fundamentals and model evaluation
• Strong Python skills and an understanding of software engineering best practices
• Experience developing or integrating LLM-based solutions, e.g. prompting, RAG or AI agent orchestration
• Experience analysing data and translating business or technical requirements into practical solutions
• Very good English skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders

What you will do:

The Data Analytics & AI team develops and operates AI-driven automation and analytics solutions for business stakeholders across Lufthansa Group. We work with modern technologies across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, Databricks and SAP data, with a strong focus on moving AI/ML solutions from experimentation into reliable, production-ready business applications.

In this role, you will combine data science, machine learning and software engineering. You will work on real business problems, develop and evaluate models and AI agents, and collaborate with business stakeholders and platform engineers to bring solutions into production.

Tasks:

• Design, build and evaluate machine learning models and AI/LLM-based solutions for business use cases
• Develop and evaluate LLM-based agents, including prompting, retrieval strategies and orchestration logic
• Work with MLflow for experiment tracking and model lifecycle management
• Develop production-quality Python code that is modular, tested, documented and version-controlled
• Integrate models and AI agents into existing digital solutions through APIs and modern tool-orchestration approaches
• Apply software engineering best practices, including testing, Git-based workflows and code reviews
• Perform analysis using technologies such as SAP Datasphere/BW, CDS views, Azure and Databricks/Delta
• Collaborate with platform engineering on deployment and operationalization of AI solutions
• Worki with business stakeholders to understand problems, processes and existing architecture
• Translate business needs into data-driven and AI-based solutions
