Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, IT or comparable field
  • + 5 years of business experience, preferably in: Business reporting, data management, analytics, or controlling
  • Experience in working with complex, multi-source enterprise data environments
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and requirement steering
  • Experience with data governance, KPI frameworks, or data product ownership is a strong advantage
  • Strong understanding of data models, BI architectures, and reporting processes
  • Experience with BI tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Solid knowledge of SAP-based data environments and data interfaces
  • Ability to assess technical solutions conceptually (even if not hands-on developer)
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills (ability to explain complex data topics clearly)
  • High ownership, reliability, and decision-making capability
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%


Responsibilities:

The Business Data Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of business-critical data products and reporting solutions within Lufthansa Group. The role ensures that data is reliable, harmonized, compliant, and value-generating for decision-making across Business Units.

Without this role, data ownership, prioritization, and business alignment across reporting and analytics would be fragmented, reducing decision quality and scalability.

  • Act as Business Owner / Data Product Owner for assigned data domains, reports, and dashboards
  • Define and prioritize business requirements, KPIs, and reporting standards in alignment with stakeholders
  • Ensure consistent business logic, KPI definitions, and data interpretation across reporting solutions
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Business Units and senior stakeholders, coordinate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Technical Data Stewards
  • Translate complex business needs into actionable data and reporting concepts
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve business steering through data
  • Facilitate alignment between business, data governance, and technical teams
  • Ensure data assets are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of business data systems and reporting solutions
  • Communicate business requirements and priorities to IT partners, facilitating effective solution design and implementation
  • Support troubleshooting, system upgrades, and technology innovation 
  • Drive standardization and harmonization across reports and data models
  • Evaluate and introduce new BI capabilities and platforms where value-added
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional data and reporting projects
  • Conduct or contribute to strategic initiatives, trainings, workshops, and best-practice sharing
