What do you need to have?

  • Highly proficient in R/Python and SQL
  • Experience using statistical and forecasting techniques such as time series analysis, forecast modelling, regression analysis etc.
  • Project Management skills or Management experience
  • Significant applied commercial data science experience with data analytics capability
  • Ability to source and manipulate large /complex data sets from cloud storage and compute environments (Google Cloud Platform experience preferred)
  • Experience with visualisation software as a plus (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
  • Preferable good working knowledge in financial reporting
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas in understandable terms for business stakeholders and building strong business relationships
  • Organised, delivery focussed and comfortable working on own initiative


What will you be responsible for?

As a Data Science Lead through regular touch points with stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for new and improved analytics and work with our Reporting Specialists and Reporting Developers teams to bring those requirements to life. Key to the role is defining and delivering solutions that generates tangible business benefits, informs critical business decisions as well as producing recommendations that enhance our operational efficiency. Understanding and aligning to department as well as regional/global goals and strategy is at the centre of the role.

  • Own DBS Reporting & Analytics data science roadmap working internally with DBS and global/regional business stakeholders to collaborate on priorities & delivery
  • Ensure that both the DBS organization and regional/global business are supported and enabled with actionable insights and analytics
  • Capture clear requirements ensuring delivery to agreed timelines
  • Deliver prescriptive/predictive modelling and statistical analysis to support decision making
  • Develop and implement supporting processes to enhance and maintain our analytical capabilities
  • Proactive stakeholder management with focus on communication and enablement
  • You will apply logical thinking and statistical learning techniques to obtain robust results the business can rely on for critical decisions
  • Support and guidance to our 3P partners such as Google to ensure we leverage their expertise and tools whilst staying at the fore-front of data science and innovation at Dyson
  • Business leadership with Reporting Specialist and Reporting Developers to define the requirements for the connected data platform
