Experience / Personal Qualities:

  • BA/BS or MS in Accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred
  • A proven manager that has 4 or more years of experience in similar role in other organization
  • Extensive experience of a direct (business to consumer) retailer end to end Omni channel processes
  • Strong technology/applications understandings in end to end Omni-channel retailers (CRM , Web, Stores, SAP S4)
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting, reporting and analysis, acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification a plus
  • Capable of directing the resolution of complex or unusual business problems while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
  • Ability to analyse financial and operating statistics and provide meaningful feedback
  • Highly motivated, deadline driven, and ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
  • Have the ability to motivate and encourage a productive working environment
  • Comfortable working with senior leadership
  • Working in a fast-paced team environment with high volume activities and changing priorities


About The Role:

The Lead Accountant – Direct Sales role offers an excellent opportunity to be process owner for this critical financial control function, working with high volume and high value data, where integrity and attention to detail are critical.

 The role manages a team of reconciliation specialists ensuring the accurate and timely application of direct consumer payments, identifying and resolving revenue leakage and ensuring strategic business projects are supported globally.

Data integrity is key in this role, you will be responsible for a team preparing accounting entries, detailed reconciliations, monitoring and escalating areas of concern and supporting the business in developing processes

In an area of expediential revenue growth, this is a key role is liaising with our market stakeholders, through presenting and discussing the financial position and performance, including risks, and opportunities on a monthly basis

 The role is responsible for the following:

 Process Design, Performance and Governance

  • Managing the Direct Sales team ensuring reconciliations are performed on time, risks are managed and accounts are maintained to a high degree of integrity at all times
  • Regular performance reviews; risks/opportunities are highlighted back to the business/commercial teams on a regular basis, allowing them to understand root cause and required action
  • Take ownership of queries from other departments, monitoring the request management tool and ensuring requests are actioned
  • Provide guidance and support to all markets regarding control and good practice in relation to Direct Sales and Fraud. Ensure relevant process documentation is in place
  • Continuous improvement of systems, processes and controls related to Direct
  • Support building an expert Direct payments team, through continuous education and support to match the business aspirations with global Omni channel payment offerings. Enabling the team to perform variance analysis to identify underlying drivers and formulate solutions
  • Ensures that the business has up to date intelligence on vulnerabilities in payment applications and networks
  • Reporting and escalating consumer fraud and risks to the business

 Transition of processes

  • Participate in detail design of processes to be transitioned to the centre
  • Oversee transition ensuring work is transitioned timely and in line with expectations
  • Ensure effective stabilisation of processes transitioned

 Leadership, Relationships and Strategy

  • Actively engagement and lead stakeholders to embrace and adopt the globally standardized processes, with regional and local requirements customization required for legal/tax compliance
  • Engage and influence stakeholders from a culturally diverse background to achieve established KPIs
  • Ensure collaboration with other Centres in the region and partners
  • Leading on the local Corporate Social Responsibility agenda ensuring that DBS is a valued local corporate citizen
