What do you need to have?

  • Highly proficiency in R/Python and SQL
  • Experience using statistical and forecasting techniques such as time series analysis, forecast modelling, regression analysis etc.
  • Ability to source and manipulate large /complex data sets from cloud storage and compute environments (Google Cloud Platform experience preferred)
  • Experience with visualisation software as a plus (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
  • Very good communication skills to explain complex ideas in understandable terms for business stakeholders
  • Organised, delivery focussed and comfortable working on own initiative
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and to tight deadlines


What will you be responsible for?

Data Scientist forms a critical part of success for the new established Dyson Business Services (DBS) and an enabler of the future operating model.

As a member of the Reporting & Analytics team, you sit at the data source encouraged to define and deliver business analytics projects using data science modelling and statistical techniques to drive strategic decisions.

Through regular touch points with stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for new and improved analytics and work with our Reporting Specialists and Reporting Developers teams to bring those requirements to life. Key to Data Scientist is defining and delivering solutions that generates tangible business benefits, informs critical business decisions as well as producing recommendations that enhance our operational efficiency. Understanding and aligning to department as well as regional/global goals and strategy is at the centre of the role.

  • Daily leveraging data from a wide selection of data sources eg.: SQL DB, BigQuery etc.
  • Using tools like R, Python, and any visualisation

  •  

    Analysing, modelling and visualising data effectively
  • Building predictive models using a myriad of data sources available at Dyson
  • Using Dyson’s vast data sets and sometimes making smart decisions on how to best use small data sets from inside the organisation
  • Applying logical thinking and statistical learning techniques to obtain robust results the business can rely on for critical decisions
  • Engaging with the business and reporting specialists to shape and refine their questions
  • Ensuring that both the Dyson organization and regional/global business are supported and enabled with actionable insights and analytics
  • Capturing clear requirements ensuring delivery to agreed timelines
